Months ago, I decided that instead of trying to make book trailers for the five Geren novels (thereby inflicting more advertising on a world already oversaturated with the stuff) I would attempt music videos instead. By making four videos for songs mentioned in my Geren novels, I could add one before the release of each successive novel.
Since I lack a trained singing voice or any experience with music production, I outsourced that part. The lyrics and the tune are my own, various versions of which I’ve sung more than twenty years now. I made the images to represent a fantastic daydream Adya or the song’s maker might have while singing the song. That meant I could ignore details of continuity and in-story realism, as they did not apply.
I greatly enjoy creating animations, but over the past thirteen years I had managed to forget what a huge time drain it becomes! This project spread out across nearly two months for a song that is around two and a half minutes long.
For the curious: the font used is Potta One from Google Fonts. Gwen @Onoffmusic on Fiverr did a fantastic job bringing my melody to life.
